Juan Borona Choreograph's Revival of "Ragtime. The Musical"

As a contribution to the 325th anniversary celebration of the City of New Rochelle, the College of New Rochelle will be presenting the Fall 2013 production of "Ragtime", a musical based on the start of the American Century, and the textural changes of the population at that time in history.

The production is an accurate adaptation of E.L. Doctrow's famous novel, and storyline follows what happens when a fictional, prominent New Rochelle family becomes acquainted with various characters, including a pianist from Harlem and a Latvian immigrant and his daughter. The border between fiction and reality becomes blurred and creates a sensational, captivating story, interlaced with historical figures such as Henry Ford and Booker T. Washington.

The production will run from November 15-24; the cast will be a diverse ensemble covering 100 roles. While it is a large production, CNR is more than capable of executing it in the Romita Auditorium. Production will be directed by Laurie Peterseon Castaldo with choreography by Juan Borona and musical direction by Kurt Kelley.

TraumNovela explores one man's spiral into obsession. This ‘Man’ finds himself in a strange nightclub populated by performers who may or may not be fragments of his own splintering mind. As he travels deeper within this strangely intriguing underworld in search of his lost wife, he encounters a Freudian dreamscape that changes him in ways he could never have imagined.

This gloriously strange film is inspired by “Dream Story” by Arthur Schnitzler.
